Alpine Fire

Alpine Fire

Starting at:

1985. Color. 113 minutes. Italian language, with English subtitles. Image quality: very good. "Alpine Fire" (German title: "Höhenfeuer") is set in an isolated region of the Swiss Alps, where a small rural family lives, consisting of two older parents, their daughter Belli, and their teenage deaf-mute son whom they simply refer to as "the boy". One day, out of frustration, the boy pushes his father's mower off a cliff, which results in the father banishing him from the house. The boy's sister Belli finds him a short time later living in a deserted shelter some miles away. Their previous unconditional love somehow develops into more during these visits, and they soon become lovers. The surprises don't end here though. Belli must soon confront her parents when she discovers she's pregnant. Needless to say, this doesn't go over well with dad!
